Beginning at 10am, A. Smith Bowman Distillery holds complimentary tours of their distillery every hour and finishes each tour with a tasting. A. Smith Bowman built their original distillery in 1934, and was the only legal whiskey producer in Virginia until the 1950s. Now, the distillery resides in Fredericksburg and has shifted its focus to producing small batches and experimental spirits.
After, head on over to the Shannon Air Museum. Shannon Airport is home to the Shannon Air museum as well as the Robin’s Nest Cafe. The Shannon Air Museum holds a rare collection of vintage aircraft and historic artifacts. Conveniently, the Robin’s Nest Cafe is located next to the Shannon Air museum. The cafe features many desserts includes shakes and sundaes, as well as American style breakfast, lunch, and dinner food. Robin’s Nest Cafe holds a 5 star rating on both Yelp and Google Reviews.

After an enjoyable weekend, it is important to take some history of the area with you. Spotsylvania County is the crossroads of the civil war, and visiting one of the numerous historic sites in the county is a good way to experience that as you head back home.
