Sports Virginia is a statewide collaboration of professionals from local convention and visitor bureaus, sports commissions, parks and recreation departments and facilities. Our sports experts are geared toward making the planning and hosting of sporting events as seamless as possible.

    Visit Virginia’s Blue Ridge (Visit VBR) and VBR Sports are excited to announce that the region was awarded the 2021 USA Girls 16U and 18U GOLD Fastpitch National Championship (July 18 – 25, 2021) and the 2021 USA Men’s Class D & E Eastern Slowpitch National Championship (Sept. 3 – 6, 2021). These prestigious championships are a home run for all of Virginia’s Blue Ridge.

    USA Softball is proud to announce Salem, Va. as the latest city to host the 2020 USA Softball Women’s National Team during the “Stand Beside Her” tour. Salem joins the list of cities that have been announced as hosts for the Red, White and Blue, as the team prepares to capture the Gold Medal at the 2020 Games.

    USA BMX announced that Prince William County and NOVA BMX have been selected to host the ‘East Coast Nationals’ Aug. 14–16, 2020. USA BMX last hosted a national event in the County in 2016.
  • October 10, 2019

    Prince George will be hosting the 2021 Dixie Softball World Series for both the Darlings division (7-8 years old) and Angels X-play division (9-10 years old). The Dixie Softball World Series in 2021 will host teams from eleven states across the south and, as the host, Prince George County will be allowed to enter a team in both divisions to compete for the title.

    Stafford has landed the Kayak Bass Fishing Trail Series Tournament, which will be held in the county in 2020 and 2021, and will be featured on the nationally televised fishing show “Kayak Bassin’,” hosted by retired U.S. Navy officer Chad Hoover.

    The Central Virginia Sports Commission (CVSC) is creating the Heart of Virginia Corporate Cup presented by Vista Graphics. The event will take place October 10-12, 2019, location TBA, and will engage the regional business community in competitive, social, participatory and charitable competitions in a networking environment.

    The Lynchburg Hillcats, Advanced-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, are excited to announce that the team will be hosting the 2020 Carolina League All-Star Classic. Presented by the Central Virginia Sports Commission, the game will take place at City Stadium on Tuesday, June 23, 2020.
